Changing Perceptions of Boo Radley

Some things they do are, they talk to Miss. Maudie about Boo and if hes a live or not and she says "His name's Arthur and he's alive." (P.43 chapter 5). She also tells him that he doesn't come out much because he is a foot washing Baptist and his religion thinks any thing that brings pleasure is a sin. They also sneak into the Radleys yard and when trying to escape Jem catches his pants and has to leave them tangled in the fence and when he comes back to get them later he finds them folded and stitched up poorly to almost make it look like Jem did it him self. These events make my view on Boo much different I now don't think he is as scary as he used to be also he sounds like a kinda nice guy.

Scouts discussion with Miss. Maudie changed my perception on Boo because she said he was an religious extremist and dosen't come out because he dosen't want to. Also in their play they were yelled at by Atticus because they were just making it up and didn't know anything about Boo except for the rumors they heard.

I really like this. Very good detail. I think it actually sounds like you read the chapters and you know what you are talking about! ha ha

YES!!! Matt,
This is how exactly I feel about Boo Radley now. He use to be the scary guy and everyone's saying rumors about him, but now he is doing little secretly things to help Jem, Scout, Dill. And like Miss Maudie saids hes a foot washing baptists, that probably embarrassed him from coming out. That was a nice post about the changing perception of Boo Radley

Hi Matt:

This is one of my favorite books. I read it in high school, and I just read it again for fun. I think you are absolutely right about the changing perceptions of Boo. What did you think of him when you first started reading? Did he remind you of anybody you know?

Love,

Aunt Sal
